150 years of the Common Court of Justice

The Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba exist 150 years on May st 2019. The four branches of the Court will celebrate this memorable event differently in the coming weeks with colleagues and invited guests.

 

Symposium

The official celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Court is on  May 3rd with a symposium in the auditorium of the University of Curaçao (UoC). Speakers during the symposium are former presidents Lisbeth Hoefdraad and Prof. Jaime Saleh who will talk about the developments of the Court in the years in which they held office. Furthermore, the vice-dean of the Aruba Bar Association, Johan Sjiem Fat, speaks about "Why the books of USA. Naipaul must be read "and the former Ombudsman of Sint Maarten, Dr. Nilda Arduin, gives a lecture on the Constitutional Court on Sint Maarten. The main guest speaker is Prof. Marc Loth, who will outline "Seven scenarios from the life of a 150-year-old."

 

The symposium is for invited guests, but can be followed live free of charge via the UoC website. You can enter the symposium via https://www.uoc.cw/stream between 2 and 5 p.m. The symposium can also be attended at the University of Aruba and that of Sint Maarten.

 

Adjusted opening times for the Curaçao location

As part of the celebrations, the Curaçao branch will have adjusted opening hours. The front desk (Front Office) is open to the public on May 3 th from 8:00 to 10:00 and from 13:30 to 15:00. The Administration department is also between 10:00 and 12:00
