Administrative Law

Individuals and organizations that have a conflict with the government may face administrative law. It involves, for example licenses, benefits and issues in the field of spatial planning and environment.

In most conflicts between the government and citizens, it is an administrative case. Examples include disagreements over the refusal of a residence permit, on the withdrawal of a subsidy or the granting of a building permit. The civil service law, tax law and immigration law are also included in administrative law.

The case is being handled by the Lar-court that is specialized in administrative law. Some other administrative matters proceed in accordance with the procedural requirements of the Ordinance on Administrative Justice, abbreviated LAR. On the BES, we speak of the Administrative Justice Act BES. For information about the treatment in Aruba, please visit Landsverordening Administratieve Rechtspraak (Lar).
